The Hawaii State Department of Education (HIDOE) received federal American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER III) funds to respond to the

impact that COVID-19 has had on Hawaii’s public K-12 education system. ESSER funds are intended to facilitate the safe reopening of schools; mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on

students and families who depend on HIDOE’s supports and services; and effectively address learning loss, especially of the subgroups of students who have struggled during the pandemic.

The ESSER III Educational Plan is intended to provide guidance to HIDOE schools, complex areas, and state offices as we respond to the impact of learning loss caused by the disruption

that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on in-person teaching and learning.

The stakeholder convenings will provide opportunities to:

● Share information on the ESSER III Educational Plan

● Garner input and feedback on ESSER III Educational Plan

To provide a common understanding amongst public education stakeholders of the ESSER III

Educational Plan. To allow for feedback and input on the plan.
